About John Culbertson: I didn’t plan this.

John Culbertson sits in meditation with eyes closed on a quiet beach at sunset, hands in prayer position. For the blog post what happens during a session with John CulbertsonFor the seeker who has outgrown superficial answers, rigid frameworks, and clinical spaces—you are in exactly the right place.

I finished college studying the psychology of human behavior and later earned a D.Min in pastoral counseling within the New Thought Religion. These were two worlds that seemed separate at the time. What I didn’t realize was that I was being prepared for an intersection that had no official name.

What I discovered early was simple and has never changed in 26 years: I became the person people told their secrets to. Not the obvious choice. Not the credentialed authority in the room. Just the person who somehow made it safe to say the thing that couldn’t be said anywhere else.

I hold advanced degrees and have spent decades pursuing deep formal training across virtually every dimension of the metaphysical and spiritual world—from ceremonial traditions to psychological frameworks, from ancient practices to modern spiritual development. This wasn’t out of a desire to collect titles, but out of a pure devotion to understanding this territory as completely as possible.

I don’t lead with credentials because in this world they can create distance rather than trust. But they’re there. And they inform everything.

Stepping Into the Space

When you step into a session with me, you are dropping the heavy armor of having to “have it all figured out.” It is an immediate exhale.

Together, we look at the map of your life using tools like tarot, numerology, astrology, and spiritual counseling. Sometimes all of them, sometimes one. Always whatever I intuitively feel will open the most honest conversation and provide the most meaningful insights for you in that specific moment.

In 26 years, I’ve learned one thing above everything else: The best insights emerge when people finally feel heard and seen for who they really are, not who they pretend or try to be.

For most of my clients, that has never happened anywhere else.

Behind the Scenes

When I’m not deep in conversation with clients or analyzing symbolic frameworks, here is a look at the human behind the work:

  • My workspace vibe: Quiet, calm, and highly intentional. I keep distractions to an absolute minimum so that the focus remains entirely on the depth of the work.

  • Unpopular opinion: True growth requires truth, not coddling. I’m not the advisor who will just nod and tell you what you want to hear to make you feel good temporarily. I’m here to help you confront what’s real so you can actually shift it.

  • Daily ritual I never miss: Prayers and protection rituals. Keeping my own energy clear and grounded is non-negotiable if I’m going to hold a safe space for others.

  • The non-work things that fuel me: Immersive cultural exploration, the sophisticated layers of great jazz, and the restorative stillness of a luxury hotel stay.

The Next Step

If you’ve read this far… something brought you here. That’s usually enough to start with.
