How to Use the Law of Attraction

Have you ever heard of the law of attraction? This short article takes a look at what the law of attraction is and further goes on to explain the basics steps on how to use the law of attraction

The law of attraction has been around for a while. There are some out there that want to know about the law of attraction because they believe it to be a new concept.

There has been evidence of people knowing how to use the law of attraction since the early 1900s. There’s even a good chance that the law of attraction was being used before then, even if people didn’t know it or had another name for it.

Perhaps the most popular idea associated with the law of attraction is positive thinking. In truth, these two concepts have quite a bit in common. The law of attraction does require positive thinking, but not everyone that uses positive thinking is always consciously using the law of attraction. So what is the law of attraction?

The Law of Attraction – What is the Law of Attraction?

The recent release of the popular movie “The Secret” has done a lot to inform people about this powerful idea.

Both the book “The Secret” and the movie “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne describes the law of attraction in the words of Mike Dooley as “Thoughts become things!”

Thus what the law of attraction is really saying is what we think and focus our mind on is what we attract or bring into our life. Another of the teachers from “The Secret,” John Assarf, tells us that: “Our job as humans is to hold on to the thoughts of what we want, make it absolutely clear in our minds what we want, and from that we start to invoke one of the greatest laws in the Universe, and that’s the law of attraction. You become what you think about most, but you also attract what you think about most.”

Why the Law of Attraction doesn’t seem to work.

One of my own law of attraction teachers, Bob Doyle, states in “The Secret

“The law of attraction doesn’t care whether you perceive something to be good or bad, or whether you don’t want ir or whether you do want it. It’s responding to your thoughts. So if you’re looking at a mountain of debt, feeling terrible about it, that’s the signal you’re putting out into the Universe. ‘I feel really bad because of all this debt I’ve got.’ You’re just affirming it to yourself. You feel it on very level of your being. That’s what you’re going to get more of.”

This is a really important concept to grasp. Especially considering most of us aren’t even aware of what we think and focus our emotions and thoughts on. That’s one very good reason to learn how to meditate. By learning how to meditate you’ll become more aware of your own thoughts and, more importantly, you will start learning how to take control of your thoughts and your feelings. Both of which are important to getting the most benefit out of the law of attraction.

So by now you are hopefully wondering exactly how to use the law of attraction. Let’s take a quick look!

How to Use the Law of Attraction

There are really three steps for how to use the law of attraction, and those three steps are outlined in the Bible in Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” Thus the three steps are ask, seek, and knock. Let’s look at each one so that we can better understand how to use the law of Attraction.

Ask: The whole process starts by asking the Universe for something. This is the same as focusing our mind and emotions on that which we want. We try to visualize that which we want as clearly as possible. We try to do some creative visualization so that we can see, feel, touch, and smell that which we want – attempting to make the thought and desire as real as possible. We know, in our subconsciousness, that whatever we ask for, is given to us – it’s just a matter of time and not always exactly as we had envisioned it. We don’t tell the Universe how to give us what we want, we simply let the Universe know what we are wanting and contentiously focus our mind on it.

Some of those things we want, the really big ones, may take longer to manifest. Thus if you are new to the law of attraction, you may want to focus on simple things first. Thereby building your confidence in the process. As any fear or worry that the process doesn’t work will result in just that, it not working.

It’s also important to really dig deep and discover what we really want. Most of us think we want to have love or to be involved with a certain person – when we really want what money can buy or give us and what we think that certain person can do for us. The deeper you look and the more questions you ask yourself, the more real you make the idea and the more you focus on it and notify the Universe of your desire.

Seek:  It’s not just enough to think about what we want one time. We have to come back to it everyday. When we first think of what we want, it’s like planting a seed. A seed needs constant attention and water to grow, though. Thus we must make sure we are nurturing our ideas and giving them attention if they are to grow.

When we encounter something that reminds us of what we are wanting but isn’t quite it, we shouldn’t say to ourselves “Well it didn’t work. Guess I’ll have to start over!”

No, quite to the contrary we should say “I can see that the law of attraction is working, and now I’m closer to my goal.” I’ve used the example of me wanting to go to Japan before. I haven’t got to Japan yet, but I’ve been in a hotel room and spent several nights there on my honeymoon which resembled a Japanese room complete with many Oriental pictures and TV shows that were broadcasting in Japanese. I know that was the Universe responding to my desire and I’ve no doubt that I am going to be in Japan. I just have to keep nurturing the idea.

Likewise, I have attracted money into my own life many times. Everything from a few dollars to thousands of dollars. So I know this stuff works.

Seeking is about just that. Seeking clues and evidence, the right people and situations, which can help.

Knock: This is perhaps the hardest of the three. Knocking is all about taking action. Many times we are required to take certain actions so that we can meet certain people, come across certain circumstance, etc… all of which are being orchestrated by the Universe. You see, if we never take action and just wait around for the Universe to do everything, nothing will happen. I know we have become a lazy society, but as the old saying goes “God helps those who help themselves.” You have to be motivated to act in addition to thinking. The two together are very powerful in attracting the life you want to you.
